Term: September to mid-Dec (pilot)

Commitment: 10–15 hours per month (contract position)

Location: Remote (U.S. only)

About Rona's FUN LAB

Rona's FUNLAB, Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to balancing the magic of science and the magic of living for critically ill children. We partner with hospitals, clinicians, researchers, and families to improve quality of life throughout a child's healthcare journey.

As a young and growing nonprofit, we're looking for someone who wants to help build something from the ground up. This is an opportunity to work alongside our founder as we expand hospital partnerships, grow our fundraising efforts, and bring more moments of joy to children and families facing serious illness.

Position Summary

We are seeking an independent Development & Communications Coordinator to provide communications, fundraising, and community engagement support on a project and retainer basis.

The contractor will work independently while collaborating with the Executive Director on priorities, campaigns, and deliverables. The engagement is well suited for someone who is organized, creative, proactive, and comfortable managing projects with limited supervision.

Because we're a small and growing organization, the scope may include a variety of projects across communications, fundraising, partnerships, and organizational growth.

Examples of Projects

Development

  • Partner with the Executive Director on fundraising campaigns

  • Draft donor thank-you letters

  • Assist with Google Ad Grants program

  • Help prepare Giving Tuesday and year-end fundraising materials

Communications

  • Schedule social media

  • Help maintain communication calendars

  • Update website and newsletter content

  • Repurpose existing content into new materials

This role is expected to average 10–15 hours per month. Priorities will be established together, and not every responsibility listed above will be active every month.

We're Looking For Someone Who...

  • Is an excellent written communicator

  • Understands how organizations are discovered through both traditional search and AI-powered search

  • Has excellent organizational skills and is comfortable managing multiple projects independently while balancing flexible hours with firm deadlines

  • Has experience with Canva, email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and social media scheduling tools, and is comfortable learning new tools

  • Lived experience navigating the pediatric healthcare system is welcome, but not required

  • Is excited by the opportunity to help build a growing nonprofit

  • Is comfortable working independently and asking questions when needed.

  • Experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, healthcare, or marketing is a plus, but not required.

Compensation

$1,000/month retainer for approximately 10–15 hours of work per month. This is a pilot engagement running from September through mid-December 2026. There is potential to extend the engagement based on organizational needs, performance, and available funding.

To Apply

Please send to hello@ronasfunlab.org and include:

  • A brief note about why you're interested

  • One or two examples of communications, marketing, or fundraising work you're proud of

  • Your resume or LinkedIn profile.

We're less interested in finding the "perfect" resume than someone who is organized, curious, dependable, and excited to help build something meaningful. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we aim to have someone in place in early September.
